Wave 3

Pay it Forward program/Panel discussion

Bachan Anand, Founder of Conscires Agile Practices started the "Pay it Forward" Agile/Scrum introduction one day workshops an year ago. This program recently completed 1 year. Here's a little write up by Bachan on it: http://agile.conscires.com/2012/03/12/pay-it-forward-trainings/

Bachan has worked with agile coaches like: Tobias Mayer, Carlton Nettleton, Alan Dayley, Erin Beierwaltes, Dave Cornelius, Lisa Montano, Manoj Vadakkan and many other I might be missing.

I was lucky enough to first - Support the program logistics in Atlanta (or kick start) and then during the 1 yr anniversary month debut as a workshop facilitator.

This session I am proposing is about the experience of Pay it Forward program. I plan to have Tobias, Carlton and someone from Conscires (TBD) as a panel to discuss:

- the inception & progress of PIF program

- History & experiences

- Current structure of the one day training

- Testimonials/Unique experiences by instructors

- Future plans & improvements

Bachan will be in India during this time, but I am sure he will be happy to hear the inputs the agile CoP (community of practitioners) have to help Conscires make this more engaging, creative and help them grow the presence in new locations.

Take aways:

1. Knowledge about PayitForward program

2. Current program format used by different instructiors

3. Feedback from audience about improvements to format (if any)

This will be a completely NEW session. In fact: Full disclosure, this will be my FIRST ever session at ANY conference in the world as an Agile enthusiast and practitioner.

I hope 60 mins will be OK [Could use few more mins, if the discussions with panel and audience go beyond it]

Conscires, and the Pay It Forward model are teaching us new ways to do business. I have great respect for the facilitators and others involved in this program, and am happy to be one of their number.

Sameer, to me this sounds like an Open Space topic...

This sounds great. I'd like to see some time given to concrete actions that attendees could take to help spread these ideas. How can people support this kind of program?

Thanks Ted, I'll include those details in the actual presentation (will add the point in session). Few ways are participating as a facilitator or organizer in new geographic areas, help spreading the word when workshop is scheduled in nearby city..etc. Hope this helps.

Due to a family commitment, I will be unable to attend SFAgile2012. Per my discussions with Carlton, he will help facilitate the session with Tobias & Lisa Montano on the panel.

Sincere apologies for being unable to host this. Thank you Carlton, Tobias & Lisa!
